The general meeting of the Kansai Seniors Association for the Overseas Travel Industry (Chairman Hideaki Kenbishi) was held on February 28th at the New Hankyu Hotel in Kita-ku, Osaka, and it was decided that the association would be dissolved in 2024, its last year. The association is a voluntary social group formed in February 1990 by former travel industry veterans who had worked for many years in the Kansai region, mainly Osaka. Membership is open to people aged 50 or older who have worked for travel agencies, airlines, land operators, hotels, etc. for more than 10 years, and has been active with the aim of contributing to the development of the travel industry through friendship and information exchange among members. In 2000, the association had a peak of 210 members, but as members have aged, the number has decreased to 118 today. Chairman Kenbishi said, "I was very worried about dissolving the Seniors Association, which has been in existence for 35 years. However, I have been the chairman for 11 years, and I have not been able to find successors for each of the officers. I thought it would be irresponsible to postpone it, so I made the bold proposal this time."
