Hankyu Travel International announced the ranking of overseas festivals people would like to visit on March 21st, based on the results of a survey. First place was the Rio Carnival (Brazil). In second place was the Venice Carnival (Italy), and it seems that carnivals, which are carnivals held before Lent, are popular. In third place was the Tomato Festival (Spain), in fourth place was the Taiwan Lantern Festival (Taiwan), in fifth place was the Orange Festival (Italy), and in sixth place was the Lantern Festival (Vietnam), with Asian festivals also making it into the top ranks among European festivals. Following that, in seventh place was the Military Tattoo (England) and Day of the Dead (Mexico), in ninth place was the San Fermin Festival (Spain), and in tenth place was the Flower Parade (Netherlands). Meanwhile, in terms of the popularity of overseas festivals, the Tomato Festival came in first and the Orange Festival in third place, with festivals where people throw vegetables and fruits at each other being well known. In terms of overseas festivals people have visited, the Venice Carnival came in first. Festivals that were not ranked highly in the "I want to go" category, such as the Flower Parade (Netherlands) in 4th place and the Patras Carnival (Greece) in 6th place, made it into the top rankings. The survey was conducted in January among men and women aged 20 and over nationwide. There were 607 valid responses.
