The Aichi Prefecture Association of Travel Agents (Chairman: Masaya Fujita, I Love It) held its regular general meeting on June 5th at Matsufuen in Mitani Onsen, Gamagori City. 64 members participated. In his opening remarks, Chairman Fujita said, "Foreign tourists visiting Japan spend about 150,000 yen per person. It is said that the travel industry is in a slump, but when Japanese people travel domestically, they spend 50,000 yen for lodging and 15,000 yen for a day trip. There is still no need to be pessimistic. Let's get back to basics and work more energetically and happily this year." As for the agenda, it was decided to revise the membership fee from the current 100,000 yen to 200,000 yen in line with the standards of other prefectures. In addition, 12 companies joined as regular members last year, and 14 companies withdrew. There were no changes in the number of supporting members, with two companies bringing the total number of members to 236. Tetsuhiro Ito, head of the Aichi Prefecture Tourism Promotion Division, who attended as a guest, introduced the status of registered travel agencies in Aichi Prefecture, commenting on the revised Travel Agency Law that came into effect on January 4th, "Of the 728 travel service arrangers nationwide (as of May 2018), 39 are registered in Aichi Prefecture. Of the 39, 22 are accommodation-only, 3 are transportation-only, 13 are both accommodation and transportation, and 1 is an external company only. Last year, there were 16 new travel agency registrations, which is a more stable number than the year before, when there were 25." At the general shareholders' meeting of the Aichi Travel Center (President Toshikazu Hagiwara, Orange Tourist), which was followed, President Hagiwara reported, "Sales exceeded the previous year due to the success of campaigns for issuing Zentabi coupons, which are the basis of our profits, and sales of travel products." At the general meeting of the Aichi Travel Association and Agreement Members Federation (Chairman Ishikawa Tomohiro, Matsufuen), which was held at the same time, Chairman Ishikawa said, "In Nagoya City, where competition is intensifying due to the hotel construction boom, it seems that the number of rooms increased by 2,000 last year. This month, the new private lodging law will be enforced. We are entering an increasingly turbulent era, so we would like to utilize the Aichi Travel Association and Agreement Members Federation organization to help boost sales in the region." He also introduced the "2018 Battle Festival," a revenue increase campaign that has been carried out in collaboration with the Aichi Travel Association and the Aichi Travel Center. Executive Chairman Murase Kiyotoshi (Aile Travel) promoted the campaign, saying, "There will be no new burden on members. The implementation period has been extended by one month from last year, until September 30th. Additional bonuses have also been increased. Please cooperate."
