According to Golden Week (April 26th - May 6th) travel trends compiled by HIS based on reservation status, Seoul, South Korea, continues to be the top destination for overseas travel. Although the number of reservations is higher than last year, it is still not back to pre-COVID levels and has not yet fully recovered. Reservations are 123.2% compared to the same period last year and 53.3% compared to the same period in 2018 before COVID. The number of reservations during the travel season has increased, but it has not yet reached a level that would revitalize the overseas travel market. The average unit price was 204,900 yen, 98.5% compared to the same period last year and 147.7% compared to the same period in 2018. The top five overseas travel destinations are the same as last year. Following Seoul in first place are Taipei, Honolulu, Bangkok, and Busan. Hong Kong, ranked 6th, is finally recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, and Jeju, ranked 10th, has surged 1,502.1% compared to the same period last year, as it is a port of call for cruises departing from Japan during Golden Week. For domestic travel, Okinawa Prefecture and Hokkaido are stable in the top two. Nagasaki Prefecture, home to Huis Ten Bosch, came in third, followed by Tokyo and Fukuoka Prefecture. Shimane Prefecture, where the company's tours to Izumo Taisha Shrine are doing well, has jumped from 18th place last year to 9th place.
