Applications are open until May 31st for the 8th Japan Tourism Awards, which recognizes initiatives that have contributed to the development and expansion of tourism. This time, the awards will be integrated with the Japan Tourism Association's Industrial Tourism Town Development Awards. The awards will also incorporate the perspective of industrial tourism to encourage the evolution of tourism from a wider range of targets. The Japan Tourism Awards are organized by Tourism EXPO Japan, which is sponsored by the Japan Tourism Association, the Japan Association of Travel Agents, and the Japan National Tourism Organization. In collaboration with Tourism EXPO Japan, which will be held in Tokyo on September 26th, the awards will recognize initiatives that contribute to the development and expansion of tourism. Applications are accepted from the domestic/inbound Japan and overseas fields. Eligible initiatives will be those that lead to the creation of sustainable tourism regions, the promotion of international mutual exchange, the expansion of domestic exchange, and the expansion of outbound tourism. From among the initiatives submitted, awards will be selected, including the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award, the Commissioner's Award of the Japan Tourism Agency, and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, which was newly established following the integration with the Industrial Tourism Town Development Awards.
