Total transaction amounts for major travel agencies in February, as compiled by the Japan Tourism Agency, were 286.791 billion yen, down 21.9% compared to the same month in 2019. The rate of decline narrowed slightly from the previous month. Domestic travel was down 12.3% to 172.639 billion yen. It was below 2019 but rebounded slightly from the previous month. Overseas travel was down 34.2% to 102.475 billion yen, showing a recovery trend. Travel by foreigners was down 21.4% to 11.676 billion yen. Demand has settled down somewhat. Of the 43 companies, eight exceeded the same month in 2019.
