HIS has compiled travel booking trends for the summer vacation (July 20th - August 31st). The top destinations for overseas travel were Seoul and Okinawa Prefecture for domestic travel, unchanged from the previous year. The number of reservations for both overseas and domestic travel was slightly lower than the previous year. The number of reservations for overseas travel was 97.5% compared to the same period last year, and 52.3% compared to the same period in 2019 before COVID-19, so the degree of recovery is flat compared to the previous year. By destination, Seoul, Taipei, Honolulu, Bangkok, and Singapore follow. There is no significant change compared to the trends in 2019. Cairo (Egypt) ranked first in the ranking of the fastest-growing destinations with an increase in reservations from the previous year. Delhi (India) came in second, and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) came in third. The number of reservations for domestic travel was 86.5% compared to the same period last year. Travel support measures have calmed down, and demand has returned to normal. By destination, the order is Okinawa Prefecture, Hokkaido, Nagasaki Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture, and Kagoshima Prefecture. The number of reservations for Kagoshima Prefecture has been increasing in recent years, and it is doing well, at 134.9% compared to 2019. The survey was based on the reservation status as of June 26th.
