On June 1st, Dotonbori Square, a food and entertainment information and exchange hub, opened in Dotonbori, Osaka's Minami district, bustling with inbound tourists. It was opened by JTB and the Dotonbori Shopping Association. It consists of an information center with a cafe and a theater where live shows themed on Osaka food are performed. It is expected to attract 15,000 visitors per month. It is located on the first basement floor of the Nakaza Kuidare Building in the center of Minami. It was made possible by a partnership agreement concluded between the two parties last October. The information space has touch panels that provide information on Minami's restaurants and food culture in four languages, as well as vending machines that sell tickets to nightclubs, theaters, etc. There is also a cafe where events can be held, and customers can bring in food and drinks purchased in the area. At the theater, Dotonbori ZAZA, characters such as Takoyaki Nojo and Kushikatsu Danshaku appear and perform the food musical GOTTA, which features kabuki, Japanese musical instruments, and tap dancing. They made full use of projection mapping to make it enjoyable for everyone. JTB is selling tickets that combine a GOTTA performance with a hospitality ticket for the shopping district, and is enthusiastic about making it "a base for touring the town" (JTB Executive Officer Shinji Kagoshima).
