On July 13, Hankyu Travel International announced the ranking of keywords for tourist train names in searches on its website. It is expected that many searches are for trains used for tours, but there are also trains without tours. First place went to Kintetsu's "Shimakaze," and the top ten was filled with a diverse lineup of trains, mainly from Western Japan. The first-place "Shimakaze" travels from Osaka and Kyoto to Ise-Shima. It is popular for its high-quality seats made of genuine leather and the relaxing space with the scenery from the train window. In second place was JR West Japan/IR Ishikawa Railway's "Hanayome Noren." It connects Kanazawa and Wakura Onsen, and allows you to experience Hokuriku culture. In third place was "Aru Ressha," in ninth place was "Seven Stars in Kyushu," and in tenth place was "Yufuin no Mori," three trains from JR Kyushu, which can be called pioneers of tourist trains, ranked in. In fourth place was Hisatsu Orange Railway's "Orange Restaurant," and Kyushu trains are still very popular. In fifth place was JR Shikoku's "Iyonada Monogatari," and in sixth place was JR West's "SL Yamaguchi." From East Japan, Nishino Railway's "Rokumon" came in seventh, and Oigawa Railway's "Thomas" came in eighth. The rankings were calculated from the total number of searches from May 2016 to April 2017.
