A joint forum to share tourism information from the nine Chugoku and Shikoku prefectures and attract more visitors was recently held at Dotonbori Hotel in Chuo Ward, Osaka City. The forum is held regularly, bringing together the prefectural offices of the nine Chugoku and Shikoku prefectures in Osaka, tourist facilities such as inns, and the JTB Domestic Travel Planning West Japan Division. The organizers are eight people from the Osaka Information Center of Inns and the Purchasing and Sales Department of the JTB Domestic Travel Planning West Japan Division. The representative organizer is Taniguchi Noboru (General Secretary of the Osaka Direct Planning Association, Yamamura Annex). 56 people attended the 11th event. In his opening remarks, Taniguchi said, "Initially, it started as an exchange meeting between JTB and the host organizations. We are doing this with the aim of creating content that will help promote tourism in Chugoku and Shikoku, and we would like to share and utilize information about Chugoku and Shikoku with you all today." Arai Osamu, Regional General Manager of JTB Domestic Travel Planning, explained the efforts of JTB's domestic travel campaign "Japan's Seasonal Setouchi and Sanin," which will be held from April to September. He said that tourists who visit Setouchi and Sanin are traveling in search of five keywords: sea, mountains, towns, food, and history, and he appealed for the promotion of tours that mix major tourist destinations such as Tottori Sand Dunes, Izumo Taisha Shrine, and Itsukushima Shrine with less well-known but attractive attractions. The latest information from each prefecture's representatives and the activities for the past year are as follows. Tottori Prefecture: "Last year, many couples visited Tottori Sand Dunes to play Pokemon GO. We would like to continue to promote the 1,300th anniversary of Mt. Daisen's founding, as well as Kanitori and Hoshitori prefectures." Shimane Prefecture: "We would like to promote guided tours around the former Hirohama Railway site. Shimane's rural tourism, with farm stays and hometown experience villages, is attracting attention from inbound tourists." Okayama Prefecture: "We will be running a tourism campaign called 'Okayama Fruit Time' from July to October." Hiroshima Prefecture: "We would like to promote industrial tourism, tours of movie filming locations, and okonomiyaki eating tours." This will mark the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Great Setouchi Bridge, and commemorative events and concerts are planned."▽Tokushima Prefecture: "Many foreign tourists are visiting the Oboke and Iya areas."▽Kochi Prefecture: "The Bakumatsu Ishin Expo is currently being held.
