The Japan Association of Travel Agents recently visited Fukushima Prefecture, where the 14th Domestic Tourism Revitalization Forum will be held in February 2019, and paid a courtesy visit to Governor Masao Uchibori at the prefectural office to ask for cooperation. The forum will be held from February 15-17, 2019, at Big Palette Fukushima in Koriyama City as the main venue. Approximately 1,000 people, including association members, local government tourism officials, accommodation and transportation, are expected to participate. In addition to excursions and exchanges of opinions on revitalizing domestic tourism, an inbound business meeting will be held by Zentabi on the 14th, the day before the forum. This is the first time the forum has been held in Tohoku since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the purpose is to dispel the negative rumors surrounding the nuclear accident and boost tourism in Fukushima Prefecture. The people who visited the site were Koji Kondo, Kazuo Kuniya, and Suemitsu Nagano, vice president of the association, and others from the headquarters executive committee. They explained the outline of the forum to Governor Uchibori at the prefectural office and requested his cooperation. He also reported on the development of a "customer sending campaign" to send more than 30,000 people to Fukushima Prefecture for tourism purposes between April and December, and Governor Uchibori readily agreed to cooperate. He also paid courtesy visits to Koriyama City Hall and the Koriyama Convention Bureau. He also toured the venue, Big Palette Fukushima, and the Hotel Hamatsu, the venue for the social gathering.
