According to a report by the Japan Tourism Agency, the total turnover of major travel agencies in November 2017 was 510,699 million yen, up 5.8% from the same month last year. Both domestic and overseas travel were strong. Domestic travel increased 3.2% to 315,438 million yen. Individual travel, particularly to Okinawa, was strong. Overseas travel increased 9.1% to 174,685 million yen. Destinations such as Singapore, Taiwan, and Europe were strong. Travel by foreigners increased 21.6% to 20,575 million yen. East Asia and Australia were strong, with an increase due to large MICE projects. 37 of the 50 companies exceeded the same month last year.
